Danna Meadows are grasslands located at the northern end of the Kaghan Valley in Mansehra District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. It is located at an elevation of 10,000 feet (3,000 m) with views of a series of snow-capped peaks above 15,000 feet (4,600 m).
Danna Meadows is a valley in the Kaghan Valley. Meadows is covered with green pastures, snow-capped mountains, misty hills, and forests are the attractions of the region, serving as a habitat for various types of plants and animals.
Trekking in Danna Meadows
Khanian is the starting point for a trip to Dana Meadows. The track to the Meadows was destroyed by the Kashmir earthquake in 2005. The track is about 6 to 7 hours long.
Trekking to the Danna meadows is quite demanding and tiring. A thick forest starts from Maidaan village. There are big trees all along the road. The road is steep and full of sand. Watch out for wild dogs. You will be able to hear the sound of water from the river in the middle of the jungle. You will also pass by several natural streams with fresh and clean water.
It is advisable to go with a local guide, otherwise, you may lose track and get into some tricky situation. The trail is scattered in the jungle. At some points, the track would be scattered into 4 or 5 different paths and you would never know which is the right path. And there would be no one to guide you on the right path.
The travel time from Maidaan village to Danna Valley is one to one and a half hours. It is a beautiful place to camp with amazing views. The snow-covered mountains around the bows will give a very refreshing feeling and all your tiredness and exhaustion will be blown away.
The best time to Visit Dana Plains
The season ends in October. The best time to visit this place is from May to September.
This place is yet to be explored by most travelers. Therefore, you will find very few visitors in this area. But now tourism is slowly increasing in the area.
