The famous Mughal emperor Zahir-ud-Din Babar encamped in Kallar Kahar with his troops, while marching from Kabul to Delhi with his troops. During his stay, he built a throne by cutting a large rock, from which he spoke to his army. The throne was later renamed “Takht-e-Babri”. It is said that the founder of the Mughal empire, Zaheer ud din Babur found Kallar Kahar when he passed by the Lake in his attempt to conquer in 1519 A.D. from Kabul to Delhi with his troops.
He settled there, Inspired by the beauty of the area, especially the Lake which is made up of water from a natural spring.
Mughal Emperor, Zaheer ud Din Babar laid the foundation of a Garden near the lake. This garden still exists named as “Bagh-i-Safa.

The saltwater lake, more than 1,000 feet [1000 m] above sea level, is one of the 17 marshes in the Punjab, and it is about seven miles [7 km] wide. The water is salty due to the presence of rock salt.
The lake and its surroundings are also famous for being home to several species of birds. They are notorious for peacocks. The lake looks beautiful at night and shines in the moonlight and stars. Salt Lake is a popular nature resort that you can visit. The lake has been declared by the Punjab, Department of Wildlife and Parks as a nature reserve. It is 1000 meters above sea level and is about 4 km wide. One can enjoy boating and fishing on the lake. It is a very beautiful lake with salt water because a salt mine is also nearby.
Swaik Lake
Swaik Lake is also known as Kandoya Lake. Swaik Lake is located around 10 km from the city center. It is also called Neela Pani (Blue Water) because it has beautiful fresh water and a breathable waterfall.
The lake is surrounded by spectacular rocks, cliffs, and mountains. Swaik Lake had many fun activities such as swimming in the pool, diving, and activating tents. The cascading waterfall of the lake and the water are so clear that one can see a small fish. It is an amazing attraction and fun for most people trying.
Malot Fort
Molot Fort is part of Kallar Kahar. It is 40 kilometers from the town of Chakwal and 12 kilometers from Kallar-Kahar.
Malot Fort was built on a hilltop with salty mountains and beautifully carved out of bright red sandstones with stunning views.
It is a unique castle in the region and a historic site on the Salt Range. Malot Castle was built by Janjua Emperor Raja Mal dev Khan in the 12th century. There are two Hindu temples which are a beautiful combination of ancient Kashmir and Greek architecture. A series of different rulers came and went to rule on Malot.
